Matthew 1:18-19

Questions:

  1. Think of a time when life presented an unexpected, seemingly impossible situation that challenged your understanding of what was right or just. How did you navigate that tension, and what did you learn about yourself?

  2. Where in your life are you currently being called to live righteously with genuine compassion for others?

  3. Matthew emphasizes the Holy Spirit's role in Mary's pregnancy. When faced with situations beyond your control or understanding, how do you actively seek and rely on the Holy Spirit's guidance and presence in your life?

Day 2:

Matthew 1:20-21

  • Exodus 15:2

  • Psalm 130:7-8

  • Isaiah 49:6

Questions:

  1. The angel declares Jesus' mission: "He will save his people from their sins." If the core message of Jesus is salvation from sin, how does this truth shape your understanding of the hope you carry?

  2. "His people" extends beyond just one group. How can you intentionally embody this expansive view of God's people in your interactions with those from different backgrounds this week?

Day 3:

Matthew 1:22-23

  • Isaiah 7:1-17

Questions:

  1. King Ahaz faced a choice between trusting God and human alliances. In what areas of your life are you currently being pressed to choose between relying solely on your own wisdom or fully trusting in God's presence and provision, even when the path is unclear?

  2. The name "Immanuel" means "God with us." How does the reality that "God is with you"—not just historically, but presently—empower you to face your current circumstances with greater courage and trust?

Day 4:

Matthew 1:24-25

  • Genesis 22:1-3

  • Hebrews 11:8

Questions:

  1. In what situations in your own life is God calling you to act faithfully and righteously?

  2. How can you hold righteousness and compassion in tandem in your daily decisions, showing both conviction and grace to those around you?

Day 5: Living Out Immanuel's Presence

Matthew 1:24-25

  • Deuteronomy 10:12-13

  • Micah 6:8

Questions:

  1. Consider the "downsides" Joseph faced for his obedience. What fears or potential criticisms prevent you from living out your faith more fully and uncompromisingly in your current context?

  2. Knowing that Jesus is Immanuel, "God with us," what is one concrete step you will take this week to intentionally draw closer to His presence and allow it to transform how you live, love, and serve others?
