Servant Lead Team

At Hope, members of our Servant Lead Team serve to help protect & promote the unity, the doctrine, and the vision/direction of the church.  In many ways, they serve like elders for our church.

Katie & Ray Carter

Servant Lead Team  |  Ray Carter

Ray is a native Mainer.  He grew up in Brunswick and we're thankful to say that Brunswick is still his home.  Ray is married to Katie and they are blessed with 20 grandchildren.  Katie began following Jesus as a young adult after God used a door to door salesmen to lead her mom to Jesus.  Later, Ray became curious about why people would go to church. So he decided to visit church with Katie.  After 29 years of faithfully praying for her husband and praying that God would raise up Godly men to reach Maine with the Gospel, God answered Katie's prayers when Ray turned from his sin and trusted in Jesus Christ for his salvation.  Ray has been forever changed by the love of God and he is constantly seeking to help others come to know the grace of God.  Ray and Katie used to drive 50 minutes north to church and prayed for a good church closer to home.  They began attending Hope just before we launched in September 2017.  Since then, the Carters have served as greeters, small group leaders, prayer leaders, and in many other ways (including snow plowing in Hope's first year).

Ray has grown quickly in his faith and he's been very active in leading others to faith in Jesus.  He has a missionary heart and he is leading a couple of men's Bible studies in Augusta and Brunswick.  One of Ray's greatest hopes for Hope Church is that God would raise up men who will love Jesus and make Jesus known.

Tim & Cindy Fisher

Servant Lead Team  |  Tim Fisher

Tim was born and raised in Southern California.  Just before he finished high school, Tim's life changed when he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.  He met Cindy, his wife, while they were working at Disneyland and going to college.  After graduating at UCLA, Tim was commissioned into the US Navy.  Tim and Cindy have two grown children, both of whom are married.  During his career in the Navy, the Fishers lived in California, Virginia, Rhode Island, Florida, Italy, and Maine.  After 27 years of service, Tim retired from the Navy and began a career as a Program Manager for a start-up company.  In their free time, the Fishers keep busy with Triathlons, their golden retrievers, and they love spending time with their family, which now also includes a grandchild.

After years of driving 35 minutes south to church, Tim and Cindy prayed that God would raise up a new, evangelical, Bible believing church in Brunswick. They see Hope as an answer to that prayer.  While at Hope, Tim has been an active part of the men's ministry, Hope's college ministry, and Tim has spent many hours meeting one on one to encourage others. Speaking of Hope, Tim says, "this church has developed phenomenally over the last several years."  Having attended since just after Hope's launch in late 2017, Tim says that Hope was planted "to lead people to Christ and to equip people to lead people to Christ."  His greatest hope for Hope is that we would continue on the same mission that we've had since the beginning.

Tim's favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 (CSB)... "'For I know the plans I have for you'—this is the Lord’s declaration—'plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'"

Yvon & Brenda Goulet

Servant Lead Team  |  Yvon Goulet

Yvon was born in Biddeford, ME.  The second of seven children, after high school, Yvon served in the United States Marine Corps.  As a Marine, Yvon served in Vietnam.  In 1971, Yvon met and married Brenda.  The Goulets have one daughter, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Yvon's post military career led him to serve as a Parks and Rec Director and then to manage his own painting contract business.  Raised in the Catholic Church, Yvon came to saving faith in Jesus during a retreat, many years ago.  Since Yvon came to faith in Jesus, God has given Yvon and Brenda a great love for the Lord and for His Word, the Bible.

Having spent many years in California, the Goulets consider it a joy to be back home here in Maine. Yvon and Brenda moved to Durham a couple of years ago.  Not long after their move to Durham, the Goulets began attending Hope Church, where they've served faithfully in many ministries, including: Hospitality, Prayer Team, Small Groups, and Stewardship.

Seeking to make much of his current season of life, Yvon is beginning to slow down in his career. This slow down has allowed him more time to see the goodness, blessings, and the glory of God all around him.  As faithful prayer warriors, Yvon and Brenda are thankful to see God answering prayers all around.  Yvon's greatest hope for Hope is to see people growing in God's Word and ministering to one another.

Brandton, Corley, Callann, Corban, & Katie Wood

Servant Lead Team  |  Brandton Wood

Also serving as the Lead Pastor of Hope Church, Brandton is a native of Georgia.  Brandton and Katie met in grad school and they've been married since 1997.  Brandton and Katie both trusted in Jesus as their Lord & Savior as very young children.  Though they know they are blessed that they were raised in homes where they were taught about Jesus and the Bible at a young age, the Woods love helping everyone, even those without a faith background, come to know the love, hope, and joy of a personal relationship with God. They would love to personally invite you to give Hope a try this Sunday.
